Revenue Components According to the communiqué released by Bawa Mokwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, the available gross revenue for April 2026 stood at ₦3.184 trillion.
Deductions for the cost of revenue collection amounted to ₦113.756 billion, while total transfers, refunds, and savings accounted for ₦813.839 billion.
The remaining pool of ₦2.257 trillion was drawn from three major sources:
Distributable Statutory Revenue: ₦1.260 trillion
Distributable Value Added Tax (VAT): ₦747.088 billion
Augmentation: ₦250 billion
Sector Inflows Major tax streams performed as follows during the month under review:
Increases: Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duty, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalties, and Value Added Tax (VAT) recorded significant increases.
Decreases: Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax dropped considerably, while Excise Duty saw a marginal decline
Major General Rabe Abubakar’s Widow Rescued, Injured But Receiving Treatment

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued Hajiya Amina Abubakar, the widow of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, during a military operation in Katsina State.
The rescue took place in Tunga village, located within the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Soldiers from Operation FANSAN YANMA acted on precise intelligence under a specialized push called Operation CLEAN SWEEP III.
Troops tracked down the armed bandits and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
Before fleeing under heavy military pressure, the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar.
Soldiers on the ground stabilized her and gave her first aid to control the bleeding.
She was immediately evacuated to a military medical facility.
She is currently alive and receiving urgent medical attention for her gunshot wounds.
This rescue comes just days after her husband, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar—a former Director of Defence Information—tragically died while being held in the same terrorist enclave. The couple was originally ambushed and kidnapped by bandits on May 30, 2026, while traveling to a wedding. While the General was buried over the weekend in Katsina, the military intensified its search to bring his wife home alive.

Main Causes of the RiseReports point to ongoing global energy price pressures and local challenges as the main reasons for the climb. Food and non-alcoholic drinks made the biggest impact on the numbers. Households paid more for everyday items such as:

State-by-State Differences Not all parts of Nigeria experienced the price changes the same way.
Consumers in Yobe, Anambra, and Sokoto states faced the highest overall year-on-year inflation rates.
On a monthly basis, food prices jumped the fastest in Bauchi (7.73%), Ogun (6.86%), and Jigawa (6.69%).
States like Niger, Plateau, and Edo saw the slowest overall rise in consumer prices

This book is the result of years of intensive research, field investigations, archival consultations, and interviews with over 250 notable individuals, including traditional rulers, historians, community leaders, religious scholars, members of royal families, and custodians of Ilorin’s rich heritage. It traces Ilorin’s remarkable journey from a Yoruba frontier settlement to a prominent emirate within the Sokoto Caliphate and ultimately to a modern Nigerian city distinguished by its unique blend of Yoruba, Islamic, and Nigerian identities.
As an indigene of Ilorin, this project has been more than an academic undertaking; it has been a personal mission to document, preserve, and present an authentic account of our history for present and future generations. The book seeks to clarify historical narratives, celebrate our cultural heritage, and provide a deeper understanding of the forces that have shaped Ilorin’s political, social, and religious landscape over the centuries.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially selected former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, as the running mate to its presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, for the 2027 presidential election.
