President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for the successful operation that led to the elimination of notorious bandit kingpin, Ibrahim Bastuji, in Kogi State.
According to a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the operation as a major setback for criminal networks responsible for terrorising communities in Kogi State and neighbouring areas.
The President noted that Bastuji’s activities, including kidnapping, violence and attacks on civilians, had caused untold hardship for residents. He expressed confidence that the operation would help restore public confidence and provide relief to affected communities.
President Tinubu congratulated the troops on what he described as a decisive milestone in the fight against insecurity, reiterating that no part of Nigeria’s territory would be surrendered to criminals.
The President also praised security personnel for the successful rescue of Hajiya Amina Rabe Abubakar, widow of the late former Chief of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (Rtd).
According to the statement, President Tinubu said the rescue operation reflected the professionalism, courage and determination of security agencies in confronting criminal elements across the country.
He described the safe return of Hajiya Amina as a source of relief to her family and Nigerians, while commending the intelligence coordination and bravery of the officers and men involved in the operation.
President Tinubu further assured Nigerians that his administration would continue to provide the Armed Forces with the resources, training and support required to tackle banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes.
He also urged citizens to support security agencies with timely and useful information to strengthen efforts aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
