I have no regret removing fuel subsidy”
I’ve been giving to the less privileged at Bourdillon for the past 25 years, we’ve never experienced stampede, says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that he has no regrets about removing the fuel subsidy, emphasizing that the decision was necessary to secure Nigeriaโ€™s financial future.

Speaking on Monday during a live presidential media chat broadcast nationwide, Tinubu explained that the subsidy was draining the countryโ€™s resources and jeopardizing future investments.

He said, โ€œWe are spending our future. We are spending our generationโ€™s fortunes. We are not investing. We are just deceiving ourselves.

โ€œWhy should you have expenditures when you donโ€™t have revenues?

โ€œI donโ€™t have any regret in removing the fuel subsidy. We cannot spend our generation investment.

โ€We have no choice. Otherwise, we are headed for the slippery slopeโ€ฆ financial disaster, not just for us but our children.

The President also addressed the recent palliative stampedes in parts of the country that resulted in the loss of lives.

He attributed the tragedies to poor organization.

โ€œIt is very sad that people are not well organised. We just have to be disciplined. My condolences to those who lost their family members,โ€ he said.
