The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed circulating rumors about the return of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) under a reformed set of rules.
In a statement titled โDisclaimer: SARS Remains Dissolved,โ issued in Abuja on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi emphasized that SARS, disbanded on October 11, 2020, remains permanently dissolved.
He clarified: โThe Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is not back in operation. The recent information regarding SARS reformation and rules of engagement should be treated with caution.โ
ACP Adejobi urged Nigerians to verify information from credible sources: โTo ensure receiving accurate and reliable updates, citizens are advised to follow the official handles of the Nigeria Police Force on social media: @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram.โ
He concluded by stressing the importance of public awareness: โYour safety and awareness are paramount; stay informed and vigilant.โ
