“Let heaven fall, we will not succumb to blackmailers”- Nyesom Wike
“We cannot stop the minister from doing his work; he is cleaning the city and making it look good. The idea of demolishing is to make the city’ look good, we cannot stop him from doing his work,” said Senator Lola Ashiru in support of FCT Minister Wike’s demolition.
“There is a lot of flooding in many parts of the FCT as a result of people building houses on drainage channels. When the court orders the minister to address these issues for the benefit of the people, and people are dying during the rainy season, I don’t want us to be emotional; it’s not personal.”
Senate President Akpabio stated that the Senate has resolved to put a hold on further demolitions in Abuja, except those ordered by the court, until they interface with the FCT administration.
The Senate has also decided to establish an investigative committee to examine the demolitions and provide a report within a designated timeframe.
“You own a property; pay your gran rent you won’t pay, then every day say Wike is working, he works with his blood?
“We must come very strong, all those who have not paid and who thought we were joking. I’m going to revoke all; I’m going to do it. You think that nothing will happen, something will happen.” – Wike tell Abuja residents.
