The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has arrested a suspect for illegally dumping refuse at Micon Bus Stop along Akowonjo Road, Egbeda, Lagos State.
This was announced by the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab in Lagos recently.
The effort aims to maintain law and order in the state and ensure compliance with environmental sanitation laws.
He wrote, “On the morning of 25 February 2025, at approximately 7:09 a.m., an individual identified as Rebecca was observed unlawfully dumping refuse at Micon Bus Stop along Akowonjo Road, Egbeda. Investigations revealed that she was acting under the instruction of her sister, Mrs. Kate.
“Further inquiries confirmed that the household does not have a designated waste bin and could not provide evidence of registration or payment for waste collection services with an authorised Private Sector Participant (PSP).
“The Lagos State Government reiterates its commitment to ensuring environmental safety and enjoins citizens to take responsibility of their immediate environment.”
