Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has debunked circulating rumours suggesting that he collapsed last week.
“I will sign the condolence registers of all those who wished me dead….” Wike
The Minister labeled the reports as baseless attempts by individuals seeking to gain cheap political advantage.
Wike addressed the speculation on Thursday after inspecting four ongoing projects in the FCT, including the prestigious International Conference Centre (ICC).
He reassured the public of his dedication to fulfilling his responsibilities and advancing the development of the capital.
The rumours, which quickly spread across X , claimed that Wike had collapsed at an event in Abuja last Friday and had been rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.
However, the minister appeared in public just days later, participating in a Sallah homage to President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, putting to rest any concerns about his health.
Addressing the rumours, Wike said: “I’m a human being, it’s not a ghost that will collapse, it’s human being that will collapse if there is any problem on their health. Unfortunately I did not collapse, I didn’t show any sign that I have any health problem. What happened was that the former Rivers State government Head of Service made some revelations and in order to divert the attention of people they had to bring on rumour.
“There was not any time that I collapse or was flown oversea. The day Mr President broke Iftar during his birthday, I was there, the next day I led Abuja residents to pay Sallah homage. This is politics, we have thick skin, those things don’t bother us.”
