Council of State passes vote of confidence on Tinubu

…as Buhari, Jonathan attend Tinubu’s inaugural Council of State meeting

At its inaugural meeting since President Bola Tinubu assumed office as President, the National Council of State has passed a vote of confidence on the president for protecting democracy and standing for the interest of citizens.

Ex-Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan were in attendance at the Council of State meeting held at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar were reported to have attended the meeting virtually.

Most of the 36 State governors are physically present at the meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu.

The meeting, which commenced at noon at the Council Chambers of the Villa, is the first since President Tinubu assumed office in May last year.

There were indications that the meeting also discussed the state of the economy and the recent protest against hunger and hardship.

The council met last on 10 February last year ahead of the general elections.
